YSL

Yay! Finally my package has arrived at my doorstep. I just love it when I get things from the mail. It's like Christmas all over again.

So, what I had purchased and was anxiously waiting for was this YSL foundation I ordered. I ran out of it and have been using the Laura Mercier tinted moisterizer. Living in Texas heat can really take its toll on your skin because honestly by mid afternoon, it'll just rub off from sweating :( I use the tinted moisterizer during the day because it's less heavier on my skin but when I go out at night, I put on the YSL foundation for more coverage.

First off let me tell you how absolutely in loveeee I am with this foundation. I've been wearing it for the last 3 years. My skin is extremely sensitive and anything I put on my face, I instantly break out. No bueno. Although YSL products are a bit on the pricy side. This tube I bought was for $55. (If you buy through Neiman Marcus website, it's free shipping). Anyways back to the point....I'd rather spend the money on this than having to spend more money (in my case) at the dermatologist. The smell is nice when I apply it on and it makes my skin look well sorta flawless. And I don't have perfect skin either. The only bad thing about it is that there's no spf in it.

Optical Illusion

top: F21 // shorts: jcrew // shoes: nine west

When I picked up this top at the mall, I instantly thought of the optical illusion art that I use to just stare at for long minutes until an image appears. The pattern is kind of trippy but cool at the same time. Plus I liked the back of the top.

Macaroons

I took a visit to Sweet again having lunch at Ruggles Green. I love both places. I was craving the Atlantic Salmon Salad. The salmon was so buttery and it taste so wonderful with a bowl of sweet potatoe fries on the side. I don't have a picture of my salad because boyfriend and I devoured it with a quickness but I did capture a picture of a box of macaroons my boyfriend bought to test try. We both have heard such good things about macaroons but I've never once tried it. I've heard that once you take a bite out of it, it's like heaven and you can't stop eating it. Boy were they right. They were so delicious!! I'm kind of thankful this place is more than a 20 minute drive from where I live because I would make a trip to this place everyday for some more.

We wanted to try all the flavors so starting from up top: chocolate, strawberry, vanilla || bottom: I got 2 pistachios because my little cousin was obsessed with this flavor, coffee.
My favorite had to be the pistachio (thanks Andrea!) & coffee.

Dinosaur Eggs

Revlon was having a cheap deal at Walgreens a few weeks ago so I bought 2 bottles. The color above (Electric #305) & another cute peachy color for the summer time. I painted the electric color with 1 layer of Shatter with my OPI bottle. Boyfriend thought my nails looked like Dinosaur eggs. I thought it looked kind of cool. Don't you agree?

Meet Bowser

Hi. Meet Bowser. He's scraggly and most think he's not the cutest dog in the world but to me....he is :) I love him.

Boston

I'm currently writing up an itinerary of things to do, places to eat in Boston. I'll be going there the first week of August. Aside from visiting the Boston Public Library and the cool looking Mapparium (seen above), I would love any other recommendations to add to my list. Please share as I will be taking my mother on this trip with me. Don't want to just take her to historical places.

Texas heat

Over the weekend was my wonderful friend's birthday celebration at an American fine dining restaurant called Masraff's. Now if you live in Houston or ever plan on making a visit, you must visit this place. The food their is phenomenal. This is my 3rd time there. First time visit was during Restaurant Week and 2nd time was for boyfriend and I's anniversary. This place is a bit pricey but I have never been let down with anything I ordered. Mr. Tony Masraff himself is exceptionally nice. With the chance he gets, he will come around to meet and greet his guests as they eat. The one dish I highly recommend to order if you ever plan to visit must be the calamari. It's different from any ordinary calamari out there. It's so tasteful! I really have no words to describe it. You just have to try.

After devouring my delicious meal, we all headed out to dance the night away. Lately the heat in Texas is getting so outrageously difficult to deal with. You would think wearing this top with a bare back would cool me down a bit but poor me, you could see sweat stains seeping through the top. Embarassing much? Thank goodness it was dark in the club so no one really noticed. Except you can spot it in pictures. (not telling you which one :( )

I ordered the Special, Grilled Salmon over Risotto

Cute little Cake Pops: vanilla and red velvet flavor

Top Chef Tour

Who watches Top Chef?? I have honestly only watched maybe 2 episodes out of the many seasons they have. But my really good friend got hands on tickets and invited me yesterday to this event. I wasn't too star struck when I got to sit front row at this event. However, I am very thankful for the experience. I'm definitely a foodie person so it was really neat getting to taste test the chef's food.

So the deal was, Top Chef is doing a 22 city tour and Katy area happened to be one of the places they stopped at. The 2 chefs, Tiffany Derry and Kelly Liken, who were both on Season 7 of Top Chef, did a 15 minute cooking challenge. Texas was given a survey of which food ingredient they wanted these chef's to cook and being how Texas loves their meat.............BEEF was the ingredient with the most votes. So with the exceptional talent these 2 chef's had, they whipped up some good stuff and had 3 chosen judges from the crowd to taste test the best dish. Can you guess which Chef won?? Kelly Liken did. And I voted for hers too. I love grilled onions so her dish won me at first sight. It tasted like butter and not to mention the hand pickled mushrooms and corn mmm *swoon*. It was all a good combination in my mouth. yum!

Sweet

School has been let out for 4 days already and I've been so bored at home with nothing to do. I'm not complaining though. This gives me time to sort through all my files and get organized before the next school year begins. And what better opportunity to play ketchup with all my old friends that I have not seen in along time. Although catching up with friends is nice and eating good food while at it, I've been spending way too much money and been gradually getting out of shape :(

So today, I had a lunch date with an old college friend, Gloria. We had lunch at the Ruggles Green in Citycentre. I ordered the Salad with Atlantic Salmon and a side order of sweet potato fries! yum! No pictures to show but afterwards for dessert (yes, gotta have dessert) we walked to a cupcake boutique called Sweet. The decor was soo cute and vintage. I ordered the Strawberry cupcake with dried strawberries on top and had to order the red velvet cupcake for the boyfriend. OMG, the strawberry cupcake was deelicious. Not too sweet or filling.

Another trip has been booked. This was a late Mother's Day/birthday gift to my mother. The trip will consist of only the ladies of the tran family plus 2 new guests: the boyfriends. This shall be an interesting trip being that we will all share the same room for 4 nights and 5 days in Boston. awkward?? haha

1.5 years of happiness

Last weekend was my boyfriend and I's anniversary. We celebrated our year and a half of being together in The Woodlands area which is almost an hour away from us. Coincidently, the Ironman event was happening so the area was very packed with many family and friends cheering for their loved ones. As we were walking through the crowds to get a view of town, we were lucky enough to encounter a proposal once a runner crossed the finish line. So sweet. (picture posted below)

So the town itself was a change of scenery for the both of us. Since I've been so swamped and stressed from work and he's often busy studying for his DATs, we decided to venture to some place different for our anniversary. The Woodlands was a very cute little area with a man made river that circles the entire shopping pavilion. We had dinner at America's. Food was really good as we were both really hungry.
