Temporary Windbags Part I

I apologize for the lack of updates but as school is coming to an end, there's so much testing I have to do with the kiddos. So last weekend, I did come back from The Windy City formally known as Chicago. My goodness, I have nothing but good things to say about this city. It's absolutely beautiful, the people are nice, and the food iss amazing! I'm not much of a fan for New York because in my opinion it's just too busy for me, it's dirty and the many times that I've visited I've encountered a lot of rude people. I visited San Francisco last year and that was by far my most favorite city. Chicago is like a New York combined with a San Fran twist to me. I don't know why. So my boyfriend and I stayed there for 3 nights and 4 days at the W Hotel. The trip was not long enough. We left without trying a few food places I had written down on our itinerary. So I'm thinking Chicago is a city I'd definitely have to pay a re-visit too in the near future.

When we arrive in Chicago, it was too late so all the food places were closed so we settled for dining at the downstairs lobby in our hotel.

Truffle Parmesan Fries @ the W Hotel. We had these babies 2 days in a row. Super delish!

Day 2: We began our morning with a tour of the Sears Tower.

View from 110 stories up.

Skydeck/ Look at how high we were from down below. My heart was pounding posing like this.

After the tour, we walked around the city for pizza. Chicago was filled with colorful tulips (such as the picture above) around the entire city. So it was a very pleasant walk everywhere we went.

I'm a very big fan of pizza and when I heard Chicago is known for their Deep Dish pizza I had to go try it out. This was Pineapple and Sausage. Not as great as I thought. In my opinion, it was too cheesy and filling. After 2 pieces, I was done.

After that, we went to the Architectural Cruise Tour that I booked for my boyfriend. He loves being on boats. I have no idea why but I figured what better way to tour the city than being on a boat. It gave us a chance to take pretty good photos of the architecture around the city.
a 5 story cottage house worth a millions of dollars. Very cute!

I'm not sure what buildings these are called but I just liked the look of them.

under the bridge

a look a like of the John Hancock building

depending on where the sunlight hits on this building, the different it looks according to those waves.

Walked to the Navy Pier. We were planning on riding the ferris wheel but by the time we finished all our tours and walking, we were exhausted. So we just decided to walk to the end of the pier and take pictures, then walk home for dinner at night.

As my boyfriend was snapping away, I snapped from my camera too of the lighthouse in the back.

15 minute wait just for popcorn. Was it worth it? heck yes!

I made dinner reservations at One Sixty Blue. After yelping for hours and hours, I settled for this place because it had lots of good reviews. The restaurant owner of this place was Michael Jordan.

The bar decor was very nice and quaint.

We ended our night with a few drinks and salsa dancing at Nacional 27.

The upstairs lobby was so nice and vacant so we decided to have some fun with the camera.

So won't you be my honeybee??

Last Thursday (a school/work night), my dear cousin invited me out to the Kina Grannis concert @ the House of Blues. Knowing that I have to wake up early the next morning for work (6:00 am), I honestly didn't want to go. But after thinking how much I've been called lame, grandma or party pooper from my boyfriend and friend, I decided, what the heck, why not? I like her music and this will be a change of scenery for me.

Lately, I've been really trying to venture out, trying new things because I've felt that my life is becoming really routine for me. Wake up 5:50 am, snooze till 6...brush teeth, get dressed, drive to work, teach kids from 8-3:45, with the quiet time I have after my kids leave...I play catch up in my classroom, leave work around 4:00, drive home, take a nap, catch up on blogs, facebook, make lunch then go to bed. See what I mean?? Routine!

So there was this coupondeal that I got online, Bikram yoga- 5 classes for $25. I'm thinking that's a pretty good deal! I've never tried yoga especially in a room that's more than 100 degree heat for 90 minutes. It'll be quite an experience but I cannot wait!

Below are some pictures I took at the concert. I really enjoyed listening to her music. She's so cute, soft spoken but seems so down to earth. I went out and bought her CD because I actually liked majority of the songs she played. One of her songs is actually being played in the video I posted in the past of Wong Fu Productions.

She's so cute!

Rainbows and Flowers

I apologize for my lack of posts but I have been so caught up with work being that it's TAKS week for the kiddos. Teachers have the luxury of being with their students the ENTIRE day...that means having to eat lunch with them and there's no Fine Arts period due to testing. Thank god it'll all be over tomorrow. I mean, can you imagine being cooped up in a room with 21 hyper 6-7 year olds?

So over the weekend, 2 other couples and my boyfriend decided to rent a house in Austin for the weekend to get away and relax. The city of Austin is just an overall beautiful city so it's so easy to pack up my bags and make a trip up there. The city is just filled with different cultures, individuality, it's carefree, go-green environment. The people are super friendly and the weather we had this weekend was just so amazing. And not to mention the food is delicious. The city has just so many different, unique food places to try that there's never enough time to go and try it out!

But with the limited time we had, we only got to go to some of the usual places that I always love going back too. I feel like I'd be betraying it if I didn't pay a visit while I was there.

@ Barton Springs. The water was too cold to swim in but good for dipping your feet in.

@ More Home Slice. // hamburger meat & onion flavor pizza. Deeelicious!

Across the street was a market we decided to check out. There were a lot of cute unique pieces.

Can't leave Austin without Momokos

We really wanted to eat the Mother Clucker but it was going to take at least 30 minutes for the chicken to defrost. I know what you're thinking...chicken on your donut?? Believe me when I say it....it's freaking amazzzzzzzzing!

If you ever head to Austin, make a stop at Rudy's for some Moist Brisket and Cream of Corn. mmMmm

And here I am now at the end of my entry to leave you with a smile on your face from my students :)
